Snow, snow, go away...

Well, the next step is to stop everything from looking like the pure driven snow. I now have to make dirt look like dirt.

Woodland Scenics makes a paint called "Earth Base Coat". It is a wonderful greenish-brown that looks just like the earth under grass.
Here is a view of the beginning of the mountains being "washed" with this color. Please notice the fact that I have made the bed of the stream much darker than the surrounding area.
This is the same degree of completion from a slightly different angle. Also, note that all of the track has been covered with masking tape. This is to obviate the necessity of major track cleaning after the scenic treatment is done.
Here the base coat has been completed. Adding the turf and details is next.
